Table Tennis Serves Video - Pro Table Tennis Serves DVD
ALPHA TT Pro Table Tennis Serves - Table Tennis Video

The program shows 140 serves from 29 different international players.

We have captured the serves of some of the best players in the world during practice and present them in this program with a clarity that shows each detail in their movement and reveals the secrets of the contact.

This DVD covers serves of all styles - shakehand, penhold, right handers, lefties - and they are organized in the basic categories of underspin, topspin and no spin, with a special mention if the side spin component becomes significant. Each serve is presented at full speed, half speed and a extra-slow "analysis speed", with a pause at significant points, then one more time at regular speed. On some serves, we used a super slow motion camera, which reveals even more detail of motion.

Serves of:

  • Ma Long
  • Wang Liqin
  • Sharat Kamal

and many other players.

XIOM E-NEZ - Table Tennis VOC Tester
XIOM E-NEZ - Table Tennis VOC Tester

ITTF APPROVED VOC TESTER

VOC detecting tester to re-enforce the ban of speed glue. Developed by Wassing Co. of Germany, ENEZ is the speed glue tester exclusively approved by ITTF. If the racket fails the test by a referee, the racket cannot be used in the tournament. Must have item for elite and professional players to ensure the pass.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING GLUE

Due to an unconfirmed health incident that occurred recently in Japan, that may be related to the use of glue, the Board of Directors of the ITTF addressed this issue at its meeting on 25 May 2007 in Zagreb, Croatia. A step-by-step set of recommendations were proposed by the ITTF’s Executive Committee in order to eliminate the possibility of any further health issues related to gluing. Based on a majority decision taken by the Board of Directors of the ITTF, Glues containing harmful volatile compounds are no longer approved by the ITTF effective immediately. Although it is felt by the Board of Directors that the current levels of volatile compounds in Glues used to affix rubber coverings to the table tennis blade are in very small quantities and if applied correctly in a ventilated area provide no serious health risk to the players, it is felt, however, that long term use of such glues may have negative health effects. Therefore, as of immediate effect the ITTF informs all players and national associations to cease using glues containing harmful volatile compounds (VCs). This includes glues with organic and inorganic volatile compounds excluding water.

It is the responsibility of each player, or his/her parents in case of minors, to cease using glues containing harmful VCs. Any player using such glues will be doing so at his/her own risk and the ITTF will not be held responsible for any consequences or ill effects resulting from the use of such glues. The use of water-based glues, free of harmful volatile compounds, is highly advisable. It should be noted that some water-based glues do contain harmful compounds and should be avoided.

The ITTF will recommend to the manufacturers and suppliers to publish and circulate widely a list of available glues that are free of harmful volatile compounds.

All existing ITTF approvals of glues are WITHDRAWN effective immediately. This withdrawal applies to ALL glues currently on the market. The ITTF will cease to approve any type of glue effective immediately. However, the ITTF’s current “racket testing” programme and protocols will continue controlling the amount of VOCs in a racket in order to protect the health of the players.

As of 1 January 2008 for ITTF Junior events (U-18), and as of 1 September 2008 for all other ITTF events, the ITTF will implement a new racket testing programme and protocol, using the Enez* and RAE** instruments to ensure that all rackets used by players are free of volatile compounds except water.

In addition, the Board of Directors has approved that as of 25 May 2007, in the case that a proven severe health incident is confirmed by the medical authority recognized by the ITTF as defined by the Board of Directors, then the ITTF will implement the new testing programme immediately (VC free except for water) at the date the incident is confirmed and sanctions would be applied for failed tests as of that date.

The ITTF urges all parties involved, players, national associations, continental associations, manufacturers, and parents to act accordingly.

Adham Sharara
President

IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING THE USE OF GLUE DATED 21 JUNE 2007

* Enez The ITTF commissioned a German company, WASSING, to produce a practical instrument that detects the existence of harmful volatile compounds in a table tennis racket. National Associations can now purchase this device through the ITTF or directly from Wassing. The device is named “Enez” and is portable and very easy to use. Composite rackets will be tested, as used by the player, at competitions. The ITTF will not test racket components separately; the entire racket is subjected to the test by placing it within the Enez device.

** RAE In case of a dispute or to verify the results produced by the Enez device, the ITTF will use an industrial very accurate device produced by RAE in the USA as a backup to the Enez results and also to calibrate the Enez devices. The RAE device will be used at all ITTF major events.

Current testing The current racket-testing programme will continue until the new testing using Enez will be introduced. The ITTF recommends that national associations procure the new Enez devices as soon as it is available and start to use such devices internally in order to be ready for the implementation of the new testing programme using Enez within their own association.

National date The implementation date at the national level of the new testing programme will be decided by each national association.

Manufacturers The ITTF is aware that manufacturers need to use glue for several components of the table tennis racket. This is an application of glue at the manufacturing level. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the manufacturers to ensure the safety of their own employees and to follow the national standards in their own country to protect the health and level of exposure of the their employees to harmful volatile compounds.
It is also the responsibility of the manufacturers to properly air all their products before packaging to ensure that all existing harmful volatile compounds have evaporated and are not trapped in the packaging.

Players The ITTF will test at events the complete racket as used by the player. It is the responsibility of the players to ensure that their racket is free of harmful volatile compounds. The ITTF will hold the player directly responsible for any failed test and will implement its rules accordingly. Players must ensure that their racket, racket covering, bonding materials, and any other part of their racket are free of any harmful volatile compounds. This can be achieved by properly airing the racket and all its components for up to 72 hours.

Medical Authority The ITTF’s Board of Directors has defined in its meeting of 25 May 2007 the medical Authority that would determine and confirm the occurrence of a serious health incident. As of this confirmation, the new racket-testing programme will start immediately overriding the implementation dates established by the Board of Directors.

XIOM Fuga (Novus Speedwood; Koto 5 Ply) Chinese Penhold - OFF Table Tennis Blade
XIOM Fuga (Novus Speedwood; Koto 5 Ply) Chinese Penhold OFF

Fast Attacking 5 Ply with Hyper Spin Capacity. Ninja of sharp offense and deadly kill.

Close-to-table fast attackers take advantage of speed and timing. This modern offensive style has been the part of legacy among Chinese top players. 5.6mm+/- thin but hard surfaced FUGA flexes well while giving very sold feel. FUGA also has quite sharp and clear feel as the unnecessary noises/vibration was minimized in construction. Hyper class spin is the very distinctive advantage. Together with the fast attack capacity FUGA will become a lethal weapon for the Chinese player. Asian version of TENSOR BIOS rubbers like OMEGA II and ZETA provides a perfect harmony with FUGA.

Revolutionized Wood Blades In New Harmony With New Generation Rubbers

Ideal blades minimize the loss of energy and promote the rubber to make its intended performance at full. They also should deliver the sense made by the ball impact exactly and clearly to the brain through a body. XIOM developed the unique system to develop the ideal blades by a series of time taking researches. NOVUS SPEEDWOOD series are revolutionized in new system and design to enhance the efficiency in energy transfer and vibration transfer. Each of 3 blade models in the series has its own very distinctive advantages but focuses on the balance with new TENSOR BIOS rubbers of XIOM. XIOM new generation rubbers for 2008 ban of speed glue can be fully exploited with NOVUS SPEEDWOOD series.

Innovated construction of speedwood

NOVUS SPEEDWOOD series are developed to match with new rubber series of XIOM. Escaped from traditional construction SPEEDWOOD series used unique veneers like SUPRUCE and KOTO. SUPRUCE has its own unique character in hardness, density, and vibration. KOTO is quite hard/heavy but excellent in feel transfer to improve the overall balance of a blade. NOVUS SPEEDWOOD carefully selected the natural wood to use by weight and density.

Positioning of Novus wood blades

Novus Speedwood

High performance blades for post-ban era completed by VIBROTECH. 3 models cover the bigger range in character. Very different identities at rather extreme positioning are created all by 5 ply construction. Stable and very distictive characters make SPEEDWOOD series unique.

Novus Swedish

Focused on professional use with very balanced positioning in character. All made with original Kiso Hinoki surface created the new feeling and the new performance. 3 models has relatively similar characters but with delicate differences. Energy efficiency has been greatly improved by SCANWOOD technology.

New Speed Measure

Standard To Explain The Speed

The traditional terms like OFF- or ALL+ confuse the players to identify the real speed character of a blade. So far the table tennis industry did not use standardized and object measure to explain about the speed. As an example, ALL blade is generally accepted as a 5 ply blade with low rebound and lightweight for allround play. But top players use ALL blades to play very speedy and aggressive games. Swing speed, experience, and rubbers can influence more on the speed character. The speed character cannot be defined by simple rebound height of a ball from the blade surface. XIOM adopted new speed measure from 2008 to explain the speed character of all blade series. REBOUND MEASURE indicates the repulsion level of construction influenced by hardness, weight, and thickness. HIGH SPEED PERFORMANCE explains the moment reaction of a blade against a high speed ball in real play paradigm. Good new is now that these measures are object and standardized by testing machines.

  • Recommended for non-speed glue rubbers.

"For the last three month I have been thinking a lot about the new rules concerning the ban of glue. I am still discussing almost every day with numerous players about the change that is taking place since the introduction at the beginning of September. When Boosters came on the market it posed two problems. First is that it is against the rule to "add" anything to the racket composition other than what is listed in Rule 2.4 "The Racket" of the ITTF laws of TT. Second, we also have a rule 2.4.7, which does not allow the racket covering to be changed in any way on purpose after it has been approved by the ITTF. Rule 2.4 is very old and never changed. Rule 2.4.7 was introduced in 2006 and so is newer." - ITTF President Adham Shahara

A Complete Training Program In Only 55 Minutes

As a professional coach, I use my Newgy Robo Pong 2000 almost every day. I have found no more efficient teaching tool for introducing new stroke techniques to my students. In fact, many of my students have purchased a Robo Pong 2000 for home use. I have developed the following drill program to give my students a complete skills practice session in a short period of time. The program consists of eight drills. Allowing for a few minutes to reset the robot between drills and you can complete the whole program in only 55 minutes.

1. Serve Practice (5 minutes)

It may seem strange to you to start a training program off by practicing serves. However, there is no better way to warm-up your spin touch and hand skills. Simply practice your serves putting emphasis on making as much spin as possible as well as good placement.

2. Push Practice (5 minutes)

Set your robot to produce backspin and have it oscillate over the whole table. Practice your pushes with both backhand and forehand. Direct your returns to all areas of the table. Don’t forget to vary the spin of your returns and also make both short and long returns.

3. Loop Practice (10 minutes — 5 minutes with both FH and BH)

Set your robot for backspin and direct the ball to your backhand no oscillation. Using your forehand practice looping and direct your returns to all areas of the table. Start off by making high spin (slower) loops and progress to making faster loop drives. Repeat drill using your backhand

4. Mixed Loop and Push Practice (5 minutes)

Set your robot for backspin and have it oscillate over the whole table. Using both forehand and backhand, alternate loops with pushes. Remember to practice directing your returns over the whole table.

5. Counter Practice (10 minutes — 5 minutes with both FH and BH)

Set your robot to produce topspin and direct the ball to your forehand with no oscillation. Start off with short blocks and gradually lengthen your stoke to produce a counter drive. Finally, finish off with full kill shots. Once again, practice directing your returns to all parts of the table. Reset the robot to direct the ball to your backhand side and repeat the drill using only backhand.

6. Movement Drill (5 minutes)

Set your robot for topspin and have it oscillate over one half of the table. Use only forehand strokes and direct your returns to all parts of the table. Concentrate on using proper 2 step movement technique. Also, set the ball feed at a rate that puts you under pressure to move fast enough.

7. Pivot Drill (5 minutes)

This is also a movement drill. Set your robot for topspin and direct the ball to your wide backhand with no oscillation. This drill consists of making two backhand counters or loops and then pivoting and hitting one forehand from the backhand side (repeat). Both counters and loops strokes should be practiced and your returns should be directed to all areas of the table.

8. Serve Return Drill (5 minutes)

Set your robot to produce a short underspin serve, sidespin can also be added. Oscillate the serves over the whole table. Practice making random drops, flips and long pushes. Emphasis should be placed on making good placements. Try to keep your drops very short and cut the diagonal sidelines with your flips and long pushes.

At the conclusion of this drill program you will have practiced all the basic skills of the game. Of course your own individual style will determine which advanced skills you also need to train. Use this program several times a week and you will see a quick improvement in your overall game.
